Istanbul, Turkey

We took a Baylor group trip to Istanbul, Turkey, Thursday, February 7 to Sunday, February 10.

Classic Turkish Tea - Yum

Thursday morning at 6:30 we left by bus to Brussels, Belgium, and flew to Istanbul.  That night we walked around Taxim Square, and my group enjoyed some Turkish "Chicken on Skewer" with rice - yum!  And "Su" means water.  :)  Later we went to a Simit Cafe and enjoyed some tea and cake.

The Blue Mosque

Friday we visited the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Byzantine Cistern.  We shopped in the Grand Bazaar and then my group had some good "Doner" lamb for dinner.

Saturday we all took a ferry cruise along the Bosphorous River.  We started at the Golden Horn and traveled to the Black Sea at the Asian border.  Our entire Baylor group enjoyed a nice lunch along the Golden Horn.

A small group of us shopped at the Spice Market and then visited the Topkapi Palace.  It had an incredible "Sacred Relics" section with what they believe to be John the Baptist's skull and arm, Moses's staff, and Apostle John's turban, among many other ancient artifacts.

Sunday morning we headed home and had some Egyptian pizza in Maastricht!
